Biotope improvements.

The purpose of the biotope improvements is to modify and regenerate spawning grounds in the Mjällån, by creating pools and barriers as natural as possible and placing out stones. In 1992 the recreation of the floating channel was recreated in the Mjällån after the floatway cleansing, which was undertaken in the 1950's. The section of the river where these measures have already been taken, begins about 10 km upstream from Mobron, and ends by the outflow of the Hammarån at Västanå.

Ensuring regrowth.

So far close to 600,000 Sea Trout spawns have been put out in the Mjällån to grow and adjust to their waters of spawning. Via the Mjällån, Mjällån and Indalsälven the trout heads out to the sea and in time for spawning return to the Mjällån.
Known and proved weights of returned Sea Trout caught in the Mjällån have been between 1 and 8 kilos.

Trapping of mink is encouraged by a reward of 200 Skr/mink. The laws of hunting apply. Do not touch mink traps set out!
